We’d highly recommend a visit to the Coffee Cabin for a morning coffee and cake; if you’re looking for something more substantial, then the Flame Factory offer delicious wood-fired pizzas that are great for families and couples alike.

For dinner with a view, do as the locals do and visit the village’s well-loved, dog-friendly pub, The Beaver Inn, and enjoy a cold pint and hearty meal while overlooking the North Devon coast. You also can’t go wrong with a stroll along the quay with fish & chips or a renowned Hockings ice cream (which, did you know, is made right here in the village!).

Westward Ho! beach is just a stone’s throw away and is lined with shops, cafes and other family-friendly delights including arcades and crazy golf. From Appledore quay, Instow beach can be seen across the water and is just a short drive or boat taxi ride away (weather and season dependent!), great for a beach walk or dining al fresco.

If you fancy a day of shopping, Bideford town centre is only a short drive from Appledore and the bustling town of Barnstaple slightly further afield. Affinity Devon Outlet Shipping (previously Atlantic Village) is also just up the road, home to a variety of outlet stores and year-round events for all the family.
