Whether you are looking for a relaxing romantic retreat or an active family holiday, holidays in Combe Martin can cater for all. As you wind down the hill of the coastal road leading into the village you will be hit with the view of the beach at Combe Martin. The main beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, whilst low tide will reveal numerous rock pools for families to explore. There is also a pretty, small, sheltered cove next door that you’ll also want to explore.
The village of Combe Martin is set around the high street, over a mile long; rumoured to be the longest high street of any village in the UK. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, with most of these surrounding the beach.
A short drive north of Combe Martin is the incredible Broadsands Beach, a true hidden gem. This secluded, Instagram-worthy cove is well worth a visit and will make you feel like you’re on a tropical island. After a steep walk down 250 steps, you’ll be rewarded with far-reaching views of the ocean, unique rock formations and gorgeous coastline. Alternatively, you can hire a kayak to explore this impressive cove and other coastal delights, either independently or on a tour. Navigate your kayak through secluded coves, inlets and even old smugglers’ tunnels, while keeping an eye out for local wildlife including seals, dolphins, and seabirds.
Outside of Combe Martin’s beachy offerings, families, friends, and couples alike will want to visit Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (open seasonally). Nestled in a valley with over 28 acres of magnificent gardens, this family-run zoo is a great day out for everyone, especially those with a love for dinosaurs! If that wasn’t enough, there are also two other fantastic family attractions in area: Watermouth Family Theme Park & Castle and Exmoor Zoo.
