Tucked away in the heart of Withypool, this beautifully converted, pet-friendly chapel sits in an elevated spot with far-reaching views over the River Barle Valley and the surrounding Exmoor countryside. Just a short stroll from the front door you’ll find the village post office and shop, welcoming tea rooms and a 17th-century inn full of character. Withypool is perfect for walkers, with scenic routes starting right from the village. The Two Moors Way passes through here, and there’s a lovely 9-mile circular walk to Tarr Steps. A short drive takes you to Landacre Bridge (4 miles) for riverside picnics, or to the coast where Exmoor meets the sea. Dulverton (8 miles), Porlock (12 miles), Dunster (15 miles), Lynmouth (16.5 miles) and Lynton (18 miles) are all well worth a visit.
The cottage is reached via a few steps from the village lane. Inside, a spacious hallway with slate floor and wood panelling sets the tone. The cosy lounge has a wood burner in a feature fireplace, making it the perfect spot to relax whatever the season. The country-style kitchen/diner is well equipped for family meals and has a door leading through to a utility area. There’s also a handy WC on the ground floor. The small, fully enclosed patio is a delightful outdoor space, complete with a table and chairs, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or al fresco dining.
Upstairs, three comfortable bedrooms all make the most of the river and countryside views. The master bedroom is a king-size with dual-aspect windows and its own en-suite shower room and separate WC. The second bedroom is also a king-size, while the third is a twin. A family bathroom completes the first floor.
Whether you’re seeking long days of walking, peaceful evenings by the fire, or simply a base to explore all that Exmoor has to offer, this charming pet friendly, chapel conversion is the perfect retreat.
