What better way to kick off the summer in North Devon than by celebrating strawberry season in a beautiful coastal town. The strawberry fayre is generally made up of some stalls and crafty workshops.

Gig Regatta, Clovelly

Clovelly Beach

A fast-paced, fun event of racing! It wouldn’t be a complete list of North Devon events without something coastal themed. Head to Clovelly to watch some of the best local gig rowing teams compete to win the Clovelly Cup!

Bear in mind that the event itself is free, but there is an admission fee to get into the village of Clovelly. However, it is definitely worth it as Clovelly is known for being one of North Devon’s prettiest historical towns.

Summer on the Strand, Barnstaple

The Strand Barnstaple

If you are in search for things to do in North Devon this summer for the whole family, then you’d better head to Barnstaple’s Summer on the Strand event this summer. A mix of art and music fit for children and adults alike. There will be arty workshops, live music, activities for children including pavement chalk and a bouncy castle. Your kids will love this event, with plenty of food and live music to enjoy too.

The North Devon Show, Umberleigh

Goat

A pretty big event in North Devon, where you can have a wander around various stalls from local businesses. There is also a Ferris wheel for those who want to see the show from up above!

 

You can also expect to see some animals too, such as sheep and goats, as the centre of the event is agriculture. There will also be some food stalls scattered around, from sweet treats to savoury snacks. You could easily spend the whole day at the North Devon Show. There are often different things going on (such as ferret racing!), so there’s plenty to keep you and the whole family entertained

Open Air Theatre, Clovelly

This incredible experience is brought to you by Cambridge Touring Productions and this year’s performance is Sword in the Stone. Going to a theatrical event should be the staple of any family summer, and sure to be a hit with both children and adults alike. 

Not to mention, it is taking place in the quaint village of Clovelly. What more could you ask for? Head off for a day trip to Clovelly and pop to the open-air theatre performance of Sword in the Stone, this summer.

 

There are many things to do in North Devon that centre around creativity and the arts, so if that is your thing, you’re certainly in the right place.

August Bank Holiday Music Festival, Bideford

The Big Sheep Music Festival

Held at The Big Sheep, this music festival has a range of things going on, from line dancing to country music tributes to 90s hits. If you like the concert feel, being outside, and listening to some summer tunes, then this is the place to go this August.

 

Take some friends, enjoy a tipple and dance the night away. Sometimes August feels like summer is coming to an end, but it doesn’t have to. Join The Big Sheep for their epic music festival and stay in the summer mood.
